What is Neura Chat?

Neura Chat is an AI companion platform that allows you to create and interact with personalized virtual companions. You can customize personalities, appearance, relationship types, and have meaningful conversations with AI-powered characters.

Is Neura Chat free?

During the beta phase, yes! All users receive 100,000 points per month completely free. Points are used to interact with AI models, and they automatically reset on the 1st of each month.

Important: This generous free tier is part of our beta testing. We're still determining our long-term pricing model. While we're committed to keeping Neura Chat accessible and affordable, 100,000 free points monthly may not be sustainable forever. We'll always maintain a free tier, but the amount and structure may change after beta.

What's the difference between free and premium models?

Free models: Use open-source models (like Llama) that cost 0-10 points per message
Budget models: Use efficient commercial models (like Gemini Flash) for 20-50 points per message
Premium models: Use advanced models (like Claude or GPT-4) for 100-500 points per message

All models are accessible to everyone - you just choose based on your point budget and desired quality.

Is this really in beta?

Yes! Neura Chat is actively being developed and improved. While all core features work, you may encounter occasional bugs, and features may be added or modified based on user feedback. We're transparent about our development status.

Privacy & Security

Where is my data stored?

All user data, including conversations and character information, is stored on European servers only. Currently, everything is hosted in Gravelines, France. We are committed to never using American providers, and all future expansion will remain within Europe.

Can you read my conversations?

Technically, as the service provider, we have access to the database. However: - We do not actively monitor or read user conversations - Your data is encrypted during transmission - We only access data for technical support, debugging, or if legally required - We're exploring end-to-end encryption options for future versions

What data do you collect?

We collect: - Account information (username, email, password hash) - Character definitions and settings - Conversation history and messages - Memory data created by the AI - Usage statistics (points used, active models)

We do not collect: - Payment information (currently free service) - Personal identifiers beyond what you provide - Browsing habits outside the app - Device fingerprints or tracking data

Can I delete my data?

Yes! You can delete: - Individual messages and conversations - Specific memories - Entire characters - Your whole account (contact support)

When you delete data, it's permanently removed from our servers.

Technical Questions

What AI models do you use?

We use OpenRouter as our AI provider, which gives access to dozens of models from various providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, Google, etc.). Admins configure which models are available, and users can choose their preferred model for each conversation.

How does the memory system work?

After each conversation exchange, the AI automatically analyzes what was discussed and extracts important information: - Personal facts (birthdays, job, family, etc.) - Preferences and likes/dislikes - Important events or plans - Emotional states - Relationship milestones

Memories are ranked by importance (1-10 scale) and the top 10 are included in future conversations. You can view, edit, and delete memories anytime.

Can I use multiple devices?

Yes! Your account works across all devices. Just log in at https://app.neurachat.net from any browser. Your characters, conversations, and memories sync automatically.

Does the WhatsApp integration work?

Yes, but it's experimental. The WhatsApp integration uses an unofficial method which carries some risks: - Your WhatsApp account could potentially be banned by WhatsApp - Features may break if WhatsApp updates their system - We strongly recommend using a separate phone number for testing - Not recommended for your primary WhatsApp account

Setup: Simply visit your character page, click on WhatsApp integration, scan the QR code with your phone, and you're connected!

How do multiple chats work?

You can have multiple separate conversations with the same character: - Only one chat is "active" at a time - Previous chats are automatically archived - Archived chats are read-only but viewable anytime - Memories are shared across all chats with a character - Use /new command to start a fresh conversation

Character & Conversation Questions

Can I create any type of character?

Yes! Neura Chat offers complete flexibility: - Define personality, appearance, background, interests - Choose from 11+ relationship types or create custom - Enable/disable roleplay mode - Set age (18+ only for romantic relationships) - No content restrictions (within legal limits)

What relationship types are available?

Romantic: Girlfriend, Boyfriend
Platonic: Friend, Best Friend, Companion
Familial: Sibling, Parent
Professional: Mentor, Coach
Other: Rival, Pet
Custom: Define your own

Can I edit my character after creating it?

Yes! You can edit all character attributes at any time: - Personality traits - Appearance description - Background story - Relationship type - Roleplay settings - Memory preferences

How does message regeneration work?

If you're not satisfied with an AI response, use the /regenerate command: - The last AI message is deleted - A new response is generated using the same context - Costs the same points as a normal message - Useful for getting different response styles or fixing out-of-character replies

What are the chat commands?

/new - Start a new chat (archives current conversation)
/regenerate - Regenerate the last AI response
/mem - Force memory extraction from recent messages

Account & Points

How do I get more points?

During Beta: All users receive 100,000 points monthly for free, automatically resetting on the 1st of each month.

After Beta: We're still determining the best pricing model. Options we're considering: - Maintaining a generous free tier (amount TBD) - Optional point packages for heavy users - Subscription tiers with different point allocations - Referral bonuses and community rewards

Whatever we choose, we're committed to keeping Neura Chat significantly more affordable than competitors while ensuring the service is sustainable.

What happens if I run out of points?

During beta, if you exhaust your 100,000 points, you'll need to wait until the monthly reset (1st of the month). We recommend: - Using lower-cost models for casual chatting - Saving premium models for important conversations - Monitoring your point balance regularly

After beta, we'll likely offer options to purchase additional points if needed.

Can I transfer points to another user?

Not currently, but this may be a feature in the future.

Troubleshooting

My character isn't responding correctly

Try these steps: 1. Check your character prompt - Make sure personality and background are clearly defined 2. Try /regenerate - Get a different response 3. Start a /new chat - Fresh context can help 4. Switch models - Different models have different strengths 5. Edit memories - Remove conflicting or incorrect memories

I lost my conversation history

Check if you accidentally started a /new chat (previous chats are archived)
Visit the character page and view "Conversation History"
Archived chats are read-only but always accessible

WhatsApp integration isn't connecting

Generate a new QR code from the character page
Scan with WhatsApp on your phone within 60 seconds
Make sure your phone has a stable internet connection
Try disconnecting and reconnecting

The AI forgot something important

The memory system is automatic but not perfect: 1. Check "Memories" on the character page 2. Manually add the important fact 3. Edit the memory's importance score (1-10) 4. Use /mem command to force memory extraction

Will Neura Chat always be free?
